In addition to the print design brief, commissioned by Richard Fetherston, the founder of Snowbility WP Digital Designs was tasked with creating an interactive website. This website would house WP Digital Designs first web application. Working in collaboration with Matthew Shield from Pixel Paw WP Digital Designs and Pixel designed and created a performance tracking app.
This performance tracking web app visually shows the 13 Phases that forms the foundations of Snowbility learning scheme. Each phase consists of 4 activities, which equates to 1 lesson per activity. The performance tracking app is branded as The Journey and is an exclusive tool for participant’s who join the Snowbility scheme.
When deciding how best to deliver this tool to the participant, it was decided that the app had to be highly visual. The solution to this requirement was solved by constructing a grid system of the 13 phases, showing skiing icons that best described the phases. The grid system would notify the participant how many activities they completed by marking each phase out 4. Once all 4 activities within the phase is completed, the skiing icon changes to Gold to give a sense and recognition of achievement that the participant has completed the phase.
Within each phase, are shown four “wooden” activity boards. These boards are designed to show progress percentages to notify how far along the course the participant has progressed with each activity. Below the boards is a recent comment section where the ski instructor can comment on how well the participant is progressing. Both these features are controlled by a bespoke admin system for the ski instructor to update after they have had a lesson with the participant.
The goal with the The Journey is to add a sense of fun and adventure to each course that Snowbility offers and ensuring a unique personal experience.
